An Appetite On–Off Switch

Deep inside the hypothalamus sits the neural circuitry known to control appetite. Researchers now believe they’ve found the switch that turns hunger on and off. Trending diets and overindulgence quick fixes saturate social media feeds and “self-help” shelves at local bookstores. People have been infatuated with food and correcting bad eating habits for decades, yet overeating is still a problem that seems to be getting worse.
